Eventually, the school was established in September 1983 and took over the former temporary site of the Federal Government College, Okigwe. Monsignor Dr. Patrick Obike gave it the name “Queen of Apostles Secondary Technical School (QASTS)”. This was borne out of the fact the compound was being occupied by the defunct Holy Rosary Primary School and Queen of Apostles Teachers College respectively at the various ends. However, Rev. Fr. Patrick Obike now Monsignor Dr. Patrick Obike became the pioneer principal.
